ANZAC Day in the Illawarra

Join your community in commemorating ANZAC Day across the Illawarra. From moving dawn services to local marches and traditional two-up games, there are many ways to honour the spirit of our servicemen and women right hear in the beautiful Illawarra region. 

 

Wollongong Region

  • Wollongong Dawn Service – 5:00 am at the Cenotaph in MacCabe Park (Church Street). Arrive by 4:50 am.

  • Wollongong ANZAC Day March – 10:00 am from Crown Street Mall.

  • Corrimal RSL March – 5:25 am from Corrimal RSL Memorial Club to Anzac Grove.

  • Corrimal Dawn Service – 6:00 am at Anzac Grove, Memorial Park.

  • Thirroul Dawn Service – 6:00 am at William Woodward Memorial Park.

  • Dapto Dawn Service – 6:00 am at Dapto War Memorial near the railway station.

  • Port Kembla Dawn Service – 6:00 am at the Port Kembla Memorial (Allan St & Military Rd).

  • Windang Memorial Service – 7:45 am at Club Windang Cenotaph. March starts at 7:30 am from Lake Illawarra Hotel.

Northern Illawarra

  • Helensburgh Dawn Service – 5:45 am at Charles Harper Park Memorial.

  • Stanwell Tops Memorial Service – 10:00 am at War Memorial Park, Stonehaven Rd.

  • Coledale Dawn Service – 6:00 am at Coledale RSL Club.

Shellharbour & Kiama

  • Shellharbour City Memorial Service – A special event marking the 110th anniversary of Gallipoli.

  • Kiama Bowling Club Service – 12:30 pm at Kiama Bowling and Recreation Club.

  • Gerringong Dawn Service – 6:00 am at the eastern end of Belinda Street.

Two-Up Games

After the services, head to one of these venues to enjoy the traditional game of two-up:

  • Towradgi Beach Hotel – From 12:00 pm (one of the region’s biggest games)

  • Figtree Hotel – From 12:00 pm

  • Helensburgh Hotel – From 12:00 pm

  • Kiama Bowling Club – 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

  • Gerringong Bowlo – From 2:00 pm
